They Stumbled Across A Powerful Whirlpool And Started Filming. Keep Your Eyes On The Middle.

A powerful whirlpool was caught on film by the banks of the Daugava River, Dviete, Latvia, as it sucked in and destroyed the ice and debris in the river.

There’s no telling how powerful the whirlpool was, or if it’s speed even matched those of the Naruto Whirlpools of Japan or Saltstraumen in Norway, but it was apparently strong enough to suck in huge chunks of ice and a man.

However, unlike the Naruto whirlpools, this particular one was not created by colliding tides. It’s not exactly clear what caused the drainage but there are a couple of possibilities.

It’s possible the water was being drained into an ancient lava tube, which is a common phenomenon for rivers, or the result of karstic bedrock underneath. Or maybe it was a portal to Narnia, there’s no telling. Either way, nature is scary.
