One of the first rules of any martial arts is to never underestimate your opponent. That goes for size, looks, and age; never assume you have the advantage because of these things.
A group of Russian thugs approached an elderly man near a little shop. According to the Spanish news site, 24 Horas, the young men were drunk and followed the old man out of the store to rob him. All was captured on a CCTV camera in Russia.
There’s no telling what words were exchanged, but one thing was clear, these young fellows decided to mess with the wrong old man.
Unbeknownst to the thugs, this old man is an ex-boxer. This is where the whole ‘don’t underestimate your opponent’ thing comes into play.
The old man wasn’t about to take flack from these thugs. As soon as one of them got close, the old man decked him in the face, pushing the young man back a few steps.
The other one comes in for a hit but is knocked to the ground before he knew what hit him. The first guy makes an advance on the ex-boxer and takes a swing, but the old man nimbly dodged the punch and countered with his own, knocking the young man to the ground.
The third guy decided not to get involved after watching his two friends hit the floor like that.
The aftermath isn’t exactly clear. It appears the old man had a few things to say to the two still conscious men as they squirmed on the ground and it isn’t known if police got involved.
