It’s This Boy’s First Day Back At School Since His Father Was Killed In The Line Of Duty

Dakota Potts’ father, Rob, was a 16-year veteran of the Terra Haute police department. Last week, Rob was killed in the line of duty.

This week was his son, Dakota’s first week back at school.

The Blue Line Family didn’t want Dakota to have to make that walk back into school alone, so 70 members of the police department gathered to walk 5-year-old Dakota back into school.

On that day, Dakota wore his father’s police badge around his neck. The officers who showed up showered Dakota with gifts to help ease the transition back into school.

The officers wanted Dakota to know that the law enforcement family always has his back.
