Facebook user Sophie Camilleri posted the following photo online, which has since gone viral. It shows a handwritten letter, written by her 6-year-old daughter, in response to a mean comment she overheard about her autistic brother.
Check out Sophie’s post below.
Last week a child at Lex’s school came up to her and said ‘Your brother is weird’ 😔 Lex told the child that her brother has Autism, but the child didn’t know what this was.
This left Lex really upset, but from this she said she wanted to make a change, she wanted to talk about ‘Disability Awareness In Schools’ in her next School Council Meeting, so she wrote a letter (with a little help from me with the spellings) which she handed in last Thursday.
I’m so very proud that Lex has this view and wants to change the way other children view others with disabilities. She is only 6 years old and is already part of the school council, wanting to make this change.
Can I ask a Favour of my Facebook friends to share this Post to help Lex raise Disability Awareness in schools. Thanks So Much x

Thousands of people were touched by the post. It was shared more than 30,000 times within days. Many left supportive comments, praising the young girl for her actions.
I have a brother who has autism too Lex. We’re grown-ups now but I still sometimes have to explain to others what makes him so special. Once people understand they behave much better. Sometimes we even become friends. Sometimes they come to like my brother Mark more than me! That’s ok. It makes me proud.
Although she’s still very young, Sophie’s advice is something that people of all ages should take heed to.
Pass it on.
