This house is a cat’s paradise.
Back in 1988, Peter Cohen bought his new house which came with two feral cats. They were both hit by cars and one of them died while the other went through reconstructive surgery and could no longer be an outdoors cat. He didn’t want that cat to be lonely so he brought in another. Next thing he knew, he was living with 15 cats (and surprisingly remembers all of their names).
This may seem like a big problem for your average home owner, but Cohen is a home builder and designer, so some renovations were made.
He felt that his cats needed more space to play around, so he started with some catwalks, which turned into a lot of catwalks. These cats can travel to any room in the house without touching the floor, perfect for playing “the floor is lava”.
He also made a koi pond for the cats to watch swim around. None of the fish have been eaten by a cat.
But cats aren’t the only creatures living in this house, their are humans too! Too keep the house clean and tidy, Cohen bought 3 roombas to pick up any debris and cat hair lying around. With 15 cats come 22 liter boxes, Pee-you! But Cohen has this nice setup where all of the liter boxes are placed in closets with exhaust fans for ventilation.
All-in-all, Cohen says he spent somewhere between 40-50 thousand dollars on this home renovation project. Was it worth it? For those little fur balls, of course.
