Chef John from the Food Wishes YouTube channel amazes us again with a new recipe for bacon jam!
If you’re a little skeptical about the concept of bacon jam, just give it a chance. You’re probably thinking of it being similar to raspberry jam with bacon bits in it, which isn’t true. It’s more like a salty, savory, meat-based dip for chips and breads.
If you love bacon (and who doesn’t) then you owe it to yourself to give it ago. We promise it’ll be delicious.
To make it, you need 1.5 pounds of chopped bacon, 2 teaspoons of bacon fat 4 yellow onions ¼ cup of brown sugar, 2 tsp balsamic vinegar, 2 tsp olive oil, 2 tsp butter, ¼ cup of sherry vinegar, 1 and ½ tsp of thyme, and salt to taste.
