Old, broken crayons should be on a list somewhere titled “one of the most useless things ever.” They find a way to make a mess even if they aren’t moved, and there’s always flakes of them everywhere. They stick around almost as well as glitter.
If you have old crayons that you want to put to good use, then the SoCraftstastic youtube channel has something you might like. They can teach you how to turn your crayons into crayon candles.
To make them, you’ll need crayons (obviously), wax, dixie cups, glass jars, wicks and adhesive, toothpicks, and a scent if you choose. You also need a working microwave.
The recipe for these crayon wax candles is so simple you could even do it with your kids. Just make sure that you handle the wax when it gets hot. You can also make layered candles, but be sure you wait for each layer to dry. Take a look at the SoCraftastic youtube channel for more fun crafting ideas!
