Not knowing if the device actually worked or not, Syrian rebel commander Abu Ali discovered a laptop and brought it to the Foreign Policy.
“We found the laptop and the power cord in a room. I took it with me. But I have no clue if it still works or if it contains anything interesting.”
Upon investigation not only did the laptop turn on, but the what was found on the computer raised significant concerns. There were over 146 gigabytes of hidden files on the computer, ranging from videos of old speeches from Osama Bin Laden, details on how to make bombs, and information on biological weapons of mass destruction.
The nineteen page document on biological weapons, written in Arabic, detailed how to extract the certain diseases from animals and turn them into weapons which can be used on human life.
“The advantage of biological weapons is that they do not cost a lot of money, while the human casualties can be huge.”
The laptop also contained a document giving Islamic militants permission to wipe out non-believers. The 26 page fatwa, or Islamic ruling, stated the following:
“If Muslims cannot defeat the kafir [unbelievers] in a different way, it is permissible to use weapons of mass destruction. Even if it kills all of them and wipes them and their descendants off the face of the Earth.”
