You know how in some movies there’s always that wise old man hermit character whose one with nature and absolutely filthy? It’s always this one old guy, who smells bad, who appears before the hero for some sage advice and enlightenment which will help them overcome whatever obstacle lay in their way. This guy is pretty close to that.
Amou Hadji is an 80-year-old Iranian man just like any other…except he hasn’t bathed in 60 years. Some people might find this absolutely appalling, others (like myself) might be completely fascinated. Fascinated because this man shows how our bodies are affected by nature. His skin protrudes a pungent odor (not surprisingly) but his skin is tough like leather.
The skin of your average human is rather soft because we keep it clean and out of natures harmful way. Hadji is homeless and refuses to eat colloquial food or drink clean water. Instead, he eats dead animals, like the porcupine, and regularly smokes animal feces from his giant pipe. I wouldn’t recommend that.
He claims that this is the lifestyle he chose for himself, to become closer with nature, and he’s very happy with his decision.
