It’s pretty common to find a cat stuck in a tree, but here’s what happened when someone found a dog in a tree.
A chihuahua mix named Boo was found in a hollow tree truck by animal control officer Shirley Zindler in California, according to ABC News.
“I think she was dumped there, and she was desperate to find shelter, so she got inside through the split at the bottom of the trunk,” Zindler told ABC News.
With some patience and the sacrifice of her breakfast, she eventually lured the dog out to find that she was less than a year old, starving and pregnant. The litter didn’t make it.
“She’d probably never been handled, and she was very afraid of people, so it took over an hour to coax her out. But my scrambled eggs I was having for breakfast that morning did the trick.”
Zindler decided to temporarily take her home so she could fully recover and put up for adoption. “She stayed with me for about a month, which was how long it took to start getting her to trust people and be handle-able,” she said.
After reviewing many adoption applications she finally found a good match for Boo, a woman named Kim Stohlman who already has 2 cats and a shy chihuahua of her own.
Boo was welcomed into Stohlman’s family and her progress has been posted on a Facebook page called “Life of Boo”.
