This Amazing Sculpture Is Really A Piece Of Cake

We’ve seen some incredible works of art in our day, but this one takes the cake, literally.

This is not a sculpture or a 3D molding used for animated movies, but an actual cake sculpted by the Artisan Cake Company. That name is more than appropriate.

The cake took 2 days to create and was inspired by a drawing called Tropicalia by DeviantArt user mathiole.

During those 2 days, the artist, Liz Marek, meticulously shaped, defined and detailed layers upon layers of fondant icing, both with her hands and tools.

Also, The fondant she used is of her own recipe so it would be more appropriate to call it Liz Marek Fondant, or more colloquially, LZM.

After the sculpting was done it was time to paint. Normally for situations like this, the baker would use regular food dye, but this is art, so only glow in the dark food dye would be appropriate.

The end result of all this hard work is something truly beautiful. Honestly, it’s such a beautifully detailed piece of art that I forgot it was even a cake until it was cut open.
