In Kenosha Wisconsin a middle school student named Dee Andrews was cheerleading at her school’s basketball game. All was going well until someone suddenly said something discouraging about Dee.
In response, three basketball players from the school stopped the game and confronted the school bully on the spot. Dee Andrews has Down Syndrome, but she still manages to keep up with the other cheerleaders.
With a bright smile and some sweet dance moves, she’s become a school favorite. In honor of her courage, her friends at school have given their gym the nickname “Dee’s House”.
Bullying is a sad reality of life. Luckily, schools around the world have been trying to fight back against bullying in order to make schools safe for all children, regardless of their circumstances.
However, the only people who can truly stamp out bullying are the students. Dee and the three basketball players who took a tough stand against bullying are people that everyone should aspire emulate.
