Police Dogs are given many of the same benefits as police officers. They have special training, health insurance, and special caretakers that ensure their best interest. But the most impressive thing about police dogs is the close bond they share with their fellow officers.
Detective Anthony Fox showcased this bond when he put his life in danger to rescue his canine companion from certain death.
Apparently, the detective and other officers were apprehending a suspect when a local citizen notified them that smoke was coming from the back of the police car. The canine was inside the car, and had no way to get out.
While the other officers apprehended the suspect, Fox ran “the fastest that he ever had in his life” to get back to his K9, Alpha. With the help of another officer, the detective was able to pry the burnt doors apart just in time for alpha to escape the flames.
The interview after the event shows how close Alpha and Fox are. Fox said “I’d lay down my life for him just like I know he would lay down his life for me.” Check out the video for the full story.
