VIDEO: Teen surprises prom date by walking for the first time in 10 months

A teen girl’s prom surprise has garnered millions of views after her date showed up and witnessed a prom day miracle.

Morgan Coultress, a high school student in San Antonio, Texas, posted the video on April 28, 2018. It already has 14 million views and counting.

According to Today, Coultress began experiencing leg weakness after a thyroid surgery at the beginning of last summer. Within five hours, she could no longer lift her legs, much less walk.

Unable to determine the root of the issue, doctors started her on physical therapy. It was during her time in the hospital that she received a call from Tarik Garcia, her former cross country teammate.

“I told him what went on, and the next day he came to the hospital to visit me. I know his support through this whole thing has really helped a lot,” Coultress said. “I don’t know what I would do without him.”

Coultress wanted to walk at prom with Garcia. A week before the big dance, her goal became a reality. She took her first unassisted steps in nearly a year.

When Garcia arrived to pick up his date for their magical evening, Coultress greeted him with the surprise of his life. After he processed what was happening, Garcia was overwhelmed with excitement and ran in to wrap her in a big hug.

“How did you do that?” he exclaimed.

Coultress would tell you exactly how: faith and friendship.
