VIDEO: Chick-fil-A employees use sign language to sing happy birthday

Several Chick-fil-A employees came together to perform a special surprise for their hearing-impaired coworker and friend.

The team learned how to sign the ‘Happy Birthday’ song and presented it to James during his shift at the Cache Road Chick-fil-A in Lawton, Oklahoma.

They each shared a laugh after stumbling over how to sign out J-A-M-E-S. The birthday boy was all smiles when he signed “thank you” in response.

According to Inside Edition, James has been hearing-impaired his whole life. His fellow employees have learned how to communicate effectively with him through sign language, text messages, and lip reading. This was just another way for for the team to show they cared.

“We had the best time learning to sign the ‘Happy Birthday’ song for our fellow team member who suffers from hearing loss,” said Jonathan Pickett, owner/operator of the restaurant. “We love you, James, and we are so thankful that you are a part of our team! We look forward to celebrating many more birthdays with you!”
