Watch this old lady dance and you’d never believe she’s a day older than 70. Believe it or not, this dance was during her 90th birthday party.
Would it help to explain that this is Jean Phelps Veloz, a legendary swing dancer?
Veloz celebrated her 90th birthday Navy Club, Grand Palace Bangkok, Thailand.
The club was holding the SEA Jam 2014 which is a dance camp organized by Jitterbugs Swingapore and Bangkok Swing.
Veloz started dancing as a teenager in the 40’s along with her brothers. She has won contests, made movies, danced with several Hollywood icons, and even replaced Yolanda Casazza of the famous dancing couple Veloz and Yolanda.
She is now considered the “living bridge from the Los Angeles dance scene of the 1940’s to the present-day Lindy Hop revival that has swept the United States and the rest of the world since the late 1990’s.”
