One State Troopers act of kindness has opened a revolving door of generosity in Butler Township, Pennsylvania.
One evening, nine-year-old Brooke Yost walked into a gas station to buy herself some donut holes. Once she got to the counter, the young girl realized she didn’t have enough money to pay for the snack. Without hesitation, the man standing behind her decided to chip in. As a matter of fact, he quickly reached into his wallet and handed the clerk the cash.
That man was Pennsylvania State Trooper, Chad Savannah. After his small act of kindness, a beautiful giving-fest has escalated between the State Troopers and the Yoast family.
After that night, Brooke wanted to make sure the Trooper knew how thankful she was, and she wanted to repay him for the donuts. She decided to write him a letter. Inside the envelope, she also included $10. In the same generous way of the officer, Brooke included that the money was for them to donate to a charity of their choice.
In the letter she writes:
“My name is Brooke and I’m nine years old. At 8:15 PM I was at Sheetz on 68 and meridian Rd. I went to purchase something and didn’t have enough money. A nice police officer behind me kindly paid for my item. I thanked him but felt bad because I didn’t offer him the money I had. So, I am donating this money. I want to thank this officer again. Stay Safe, Brooke.”
Being so moved by the innocent donation, the officers decided to reward Brooke for being so selfless. They pooled together their money and got Brooke at $50 Toys R Us gift card. They hand delivered the gift card to her, trusting she would buy herself some toys.
What Brooke decided to do next, took everyone by surprise. She took the gift card to Toys R Us and she bought $50 worth of toys to donate to the Marine Corps’ Annual Toys for Tots.
Ultimately, the officers received word that Brooke donated her gift card. They then invited Brooke and her family to the station for an even more memorable event — one that Brooke would have to enjoy for herself.
They gave her the star treatment at the police station. She was honored in front of all the officers, they gave her a tour of the station, and they even let her in the police cruiser.
Brooke’s mother mentioned that her behavior was completed in character for her. She acted all on her own, out of the kindness or her giving heart.
