90-Year-Old Veteran Loves America, But Was “Bothered” By The Flag. So He Redesigned It.

Samuel J. Kapral has lived in New Jersey for 90 years and served during World War II. He’s a shining example of a patriot, but there’s one thing he’s always been dissatisfied with.

For as long as he can remember, he has always been “bothered” by the design of the American flag; specifically, the stars.

During a recent interview, he told WCBS-2 that he never liked that the stars looked so cramped in a small corner while the rest of the flag is covered with stripes, so 4 years ago he decided to redesign it.

Here is his proposed design:

Kapral immediately went looking for an endorsement from President Obama, sending him a letter comparing his new design with the current design.

“I just hope he get’s the chance to see it.” he added.

The president might not have had a chance to see it, but others have. And those that have seen it have been opposed to changing the design. One New Yorker said: “That’s his proposed design? No, why should we change it?”

Another man who say it replied: “It’s so highly symbolic of our country and people are so attached to it, no.”

How do you feel about Kapral’s redesign? Should the U.S. consider altering it’s flag or stick with the Old Glory that we know and love? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
