Bears are some of the most protective mothers in the animal kingdom. The amount of care they give to their young is only passed by their ferocity in protecting them. That’s why you should never interact with a lone baby bear in the wild, as the mother will fight first and ask questions later.
When Ricky Forbes, a Tornado hunter was making his way through Kootenay National Park, he noticed a black bear cub near the side of a highway. He decided to record it on tape.
The cub didn’t look too disturbed, but he was in grave danger. After a while, the mother bear appeared from behind the concrete divider and grabbed her cub by the scruff of his neck. He complained, but she probably saved him from a lethal accident.
If you look closely at around the 17 second mark, you can see a second cub. This video may make you want to drive extra carefully in areas where there are known black bear sightings.
