Robert Griffin III, quarterback for the Washington Redskins, showed up to a press conference wearing a Jesus themed T-shirt, but when NFL officials caught wind of it, it was a no-go by the league.

The reason? Due to the NFL’s contract with Nike, player are prohibited from wearing non-Nike apparel. He was forced to turn the shirt inside out before heading down to the podium. The shirt read:

“Know Jesus, Know Peace.”

RGIII, who appeared at the press conference to address his dislocated ankle, responded to fan support by tweeting the following shortly after:

This isn’t the first time Griffin has caught some flack for his wardrobe decisions. He was fined $10,000 last year for sporting an “Operation Patience” shirt as he fought his way back from knee surgery.
