During an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, State Department Spokesperson Marie Harf explained that killing terrorists won’t solve the ‘root problem’ that causes people to join terrorist organizations like ISIS.
According to Harf, the root problem, which is the extremist ideology, can instead be combated by providing job opportunities to potential terrorists. Conservatives and liberals alike quickly took to Twitter to mock Harf’s comments.
