One man wanted the luxury of a house with the convenience of a mobile home. So he made one.
50-year-old Yosi Tayar converted a box truck into a house he can take on the road. He got the idea after finding inspiration from TV programs about houses on wheels. He already has experience with carpentry and interior design so he decided to try it out.
The whole project cost him $250,000, which definitely seems like a hefty amount of money, but it’ll all come back in the long run as Tayar doesn’t have to pay for a mortgage or taxes.
It also helps that his home is completely solar powered, keeping him completely off the grid.
The interior is designed to be spacious, despite the trucks size. He was able to place in a kitchen, dining area, bathroom, bedroom, everything he needs.
He did have to make some sacrifices, but nothing he couldn’t live without; books and some clothing had to be left behind. But his little home allows him to live anywhere, which Tayar feels is a great sense of freedom.
