A Man Rescued An Abandoned Puppy. Several Years Later, This Is How He Repaid Him.

From bomb sniffing dogs in the military to canine police units, dogs have been saving lives alongside humans for decades. Dogs even save lives in civilian homes when they bark to alert their owners of fires or intruders.

One Ontario man would have his life saved by a dog that he saved years earlier.

The man in question is Derek Hodgson. He’s live in the Ontario mountains in a cabin for many years, but he’s spent most of that time in the company of his dog badger.

Badger was abandoned in the wilderness when Derek chanced upon him. According to Derek, Badger rolled over on his back and Derek picked him up. They’ve been together ever since. Without Derek’s intervention, who knows what would’ve happened to a lone puppy.

Years later Derek was out on the frozen lake taking photographs of eagles. Suddenly he fell and broke his leg. At the time he left his cellphone at home and no one knew where he was.

Badger dragged him all the way off of the lake and up to his cabin door where he could call for help. Had it not been for Badger, Derek would’ve surely have frozen to death on, or under, the lake ice.
