The last thing a parent wants to hear is that there’s something wrong with their child. It’s even worse when that “something wrong” is serious.
Two year old Avery Fitzgerald looked and behaved just like every other kid his age. There was no obvious indication that something could possibly be wrong. But according to his parents Julie and Patrick Fitzgerald, something just wasn’t quite right.
They were noticing spots on one of Avery’s eyes. Under ordinary circumstances, they may have dismissed it as a quirk like a beauty mark or mole. But luckily Avery’s parents found out about an aggressive type of cancer through a facebook post that had the same symptoms.
According to the facebook post, a white glow in photos could give a definite signal. When they took the photo, it was just as they feared. Cancer.
Thanks to the photo and the facebook post, the cancer was caught in the nick of time. Avery’s eye had to be removed, but other than that he’s just as happy and healthy as he was before. Doctors are still testing to see if they need to perform chemotherapy, but everything seems to be smooth sailing so far.
