She was puzzled when a carpenter did this on the way home…

Have you ever had one of those days where everything seemed to fall apart at once? The worst is when it’s a series of events.

First, your alarm doesn’t go off, then you have to rush to get ready. In your haste, you miss a button on your blouse and when you go to button it, you spill coffee all over yourself and your work! Now your boss is angry, and you’ve run out of excuses.

Will this day never end?

In the following story from Inspiration Peak, a hard-working man reveals his unique method for handling stress.

Read the story below.

The carpenter I hired to help me restore an old farmhouse had just finished a rough first day on the job. A flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric saw quit, and now his ancient pickup truck refused to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. Upon arriving, he invited me in to meet his family.

As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree on the porch and touched the tips of the branches with both hands.

When he opened the front door, he underwent an amazing transformation. His tanned face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.

Afterward, he walked me to the car. We passed the tree again, and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

“Oh, that’s my trouble tree,” he replied.” I know I can’t help having troubles on the job, but one thing’s for sure, troubles don’t belong in the house with my wife and the children. So I just hang them on the tree every night when I come home. Then in the morning, I pick them up again.”

He paused. “Funny thing is,” he smiled, “when I come out in the morning to pick ’em up, there ain’t nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.”

Sometimes surviving a day without a catastrophe can seem like a miracle.

But the wise man in our story knows better than to bring his own stress into the home of his loving family. Although his method may seem unusual, his trouble tree works for him.

Whether a stress ball, a lucky rabbit’s foot, meditation, or whatever your imagination decides, everyone needs a way to release negative energy into the universe.

That way, your bad mood cannot affect the ones you love.
