What first started out as a college project for Veronica Scott later turned into a business of her own to better the lives of those who need it.
The project was to design something to fill actual needs. Veronica did her research at homeless shelters so her first project was the coat.
At first glance it looks like your average winter coat but it can actually open up to body length and then re-zipped as a sleeping bag. The coat when through many test fits and prototypes.

By the time she was working on her 6th prototype, a woman comes out of the homeless shelter to yell at her. The woman told her that was she was doing was pointless and that the homeless don’t need coats, they need jobs.
It certainly sounds a little harsh but Veronica took what she said to heart. Veronica hired individuals from homeless shelters and trained them in everything from sewing, manufacturing, to employment and whatever they need to become more independent.
Veronica managed to raise herself from the pit her family has made and change her life. Through trying to better her own life, she ended up improving and touching the lives of many.
