Students in an Allegany County school bus were terrified as they pleaded for their driver to stop, and for good reason.
The driver of the bus, New York Native Martha Thompson, was intoxicated during the drive, with a blood/alcohol content of .15.
The students knew something wasn’t right when the bus hit 70mph. Thompson missed their exit which prompted one student to stand up and say something. Thompson tried backing up but was clearly not in control of the vehicle, which made several students start to panic. They begged her to stop and let them out but she wouldn’t have it.
Eventually, the students took matter into their own hands and escaped through the emergency exit.
Martha Thompson now faces 90 days of jail time. After that will be 6 months of electric home monitoring and 5 years probation.
