Tragedy visits everyone sooner or later. Sadly, it tragedy decided to give this Georgia couple an early visit and a raw deal.
When Matt Davis and Danielle Davis were married, everything was going great. However, in July of 2011 Matt had a terrifying experience. He was merging onto interstate 16 in Savannah when he rammed into an illegally parked vehicle. The impact sent his body hurtling out of the car.
When Matt was rushed to the hospital, doctors did everything they could to stabilize him. The doctors were able to keep Matt alive, but he suffered severe brain damage, bone fractures, and slipped into a coma.
Matt’s loyal wife Danielle stayed with Matt, and watched over her new husband in his catatonic state.
The doctors told Danielle that Matt’s situation probably wouldn’t improve, and his quality of life would remain poor. Danielle had two options. The first was to hold on to hope, and the second was to pull the plug and let Matt die.
Danielle decided on the first option. Three years later, Matt awoke from his coma and said the words “I’m trying.”
Matt and Danielle have been reunited in spite of circumstances. However, their struggle isn’t over as their medical expensive are massive. Matt and Danielle have a GoFundMe page where you can help them out.
This story goes to show that hope is always worth having!
