A Veteran’s Motorized Wheelchair Was Stolen, How The Police React Left Him In Shock

What’s worse than stealing candy from a baby? How about stealing a wheelchair from a veteran.

Roy Feragen is an 84-year-old Navy veteran. Feragen can walk, but not very far, so his major means of transportation was his wheelchair.

To his dismay, his wheelchair was stolen from him while he was shopping at a store in Utah.

The Salt Lake Unified Police Department heard what had happened to the veteran and decided to take matter into their own hands. Not just by doing their jobs and catching the thief, but by surprising Feragen with a brand new wheelchair, donated by Overstock.com.

Feragen was overjoyed. At first he was joking, saying “Does it have overdrive?” and “I like to go fast”, but then the old man became very serious with tears in his eyes.

“I don’t know what you can say but this is fantastic. You don’t expect this,” he said. “This is just beautiful.”

Police are currently on the look out for a Caucasian couple in their 20’s who were seen leaving the store parking lot around the time Feragen’s wheelchair was stolen.
