One Oklahoma man has been decorating his house for Halloween the same way for the past 3 years. He has decorations from flying ghosts to skeletons popping up from the ground. What really brought attention to his yard this year was his tombstone decorations.
Dwayne Dockens and his family live in Edmond and treat their Halloween decorating as a family bonding moment. They kept up this tradition for 3 years without a peep until a new neighbor noticed one of their tombstones.
Jamilla Phillips had just moved into the neighborhood and noticed a tombstone on the Docken’s property with President Obama’s name on in it.
“I was absolutely offended,” Phillips explained to KOCO. “He is the president of the United States and it actually is about respect … because this person is still alive.”
Dwayne Docken says he made the tombstone when the question about Obama’s birth certification was a big deal. He and his family made the tombstone themselves and thought it was simply humorous. He doesn’t intend to take the tombstone down but he also never meant to offend anyone.
