This is Soren Berger and his profession is woodturning. Woodturning is a form of woodworking by use of a lathe.
Soren has been woodturning for 33 years and teaches it. He enjoys making lamp shades out of tree stumps. He makes up to 3 different sizes.
Here is a demonstration of the process he goes through in order to make one of his shades.
Some may argue that his technique is a good waste of wood, but how can you waste a tree stump? It’s already wasted. If he doesn’t go around picking them out, they’d just sit there and rot in the ground.
