It Looks A Wasp, But On Closer Inspection…Mind Blowing

If you looked at the video thumbnail before reading this, you probably thought that the bug in the picture was a mean wasp. Well, you actually guessed wrong. The bug is actually a mantidfly which has a much less threatening temper.

Mantidflies can be found all across the United States and are quite common. Chances are you’ve probably seen one and mistaken it for a wasp. Mantidflies are generally harmless.

As you can see in the video, the bug stands on the man’s hand while he explains different facts about the bug and doesn’t seem too annoyed. The man even says that he kept the bug for a few days with no issue. He even left the container holding the bug open for hours and the bug made no effort to escape.

Most mantidflies aren’t as pretty as this one. They’re usually just a plain brown color. Still, if you find one in the wild, catch it! Apparently they make pretty good pets.
