Wild animals are known to be extremely protective of their young. There have been tons of cases of wild bear mothers charging out of the treeline to protect their cubs from people who mean them no harm.
However, Kevin Richardson AKA “The Lion Whisperer” shows that lionesses with cubs aren’t aggressive at all if you’ve built some trust. When one of Kevin’s Lionesses on his South African wildlife sanctuary gives birth to new cubs, he strolls into the pen fearlessly and picks one of the week-old cubs right up.
You’d expect Kevin to get a faceful of teeth for touching a mother’s cubs, but the ways she reacts is extraordinary.
The new lion family climbs all over him, complete with purrs, face rubs, and a few licks. The level of trust between Kevin and the lions is amazing.
You shouldn’t go trying this with any animals, especially not the bigger ones. However, you could always simulate the experience by adopting a cat and a few kittens.
