Former President Bill Clinton met with Abdullah Ibn Al Hussein, the King of Jordan, for the Global Clinton Initiative’s annual meeting Sept. 22nd in New York City. According to Abdullah, the reason for ISIS’s sudden growth in size due to wages it offers to the youth, which takes up 60% of Syria’s population. Abdullah told Clinton, “This is no longer a fight contained solely in the Middle East, but rather a global issue that needs to be addressed immediately.”
One Syrian was interviewed for a media position. “They offered me $1,500 a month, plus a car, a house, all the cameras i needed. I remember looking around the office. It was amazing the equipment they had.” He chose not to take the job, dubbing Syria too dangerous of a place to stay.
Another man who was interviewed by The Guardian said the wage for an ISIS soldier was greater than any salary he could’ve received at home, which was about $400 a month
The group is believed to have attained this money by robbing millions of dollars from several banks. They’ve also funded themselves by selling counterfeit bags and merchandise as well.Their massive 2 billion dollars in reserves are enough to bankroll the salaries of 30-50 thousand current members, offering a salary of near 1,000 U.S. dollars a month, which would give those in their ranks a chance at an upper-middle class lifestyle.
For those who would be otherwise relegated to a life of poverty, this may be an offer too good to pass up.
