What would you hide behind to cover yourself from a bullet? A concrete wall, a car, a tree? How about a row of water balloons?
Water balloons? That can’t stop a bullet! If that’s what you’re thinking be prepared to be pleasantly surprised.
NatGeo TV ran a test to see how many water balloons it would take to stop the trajectory of a bullet. The hypothesized answers were “it won’t stop the bullets” “7 balloons will stop it” “4 balloons will stop it” or “none of the above.”
Turns out, it takes 4 water filled balloons to stop a bullet of a .44 magnum.
It’s mostly due to the water. Once the bullet penetrates the first balloon, the water began to slow it’s momentum. As a result, the bullet became slower and its trajectory sunk until it got to the point where it no longer had enough force to burst through that 4th balloon.
