There’s nothing better than old, familiar meals. And what’s more familiar than Peanut butter and jelly? The ingredients are cheap, it’s easy to make, and it’s full of carbohydrates for lots of energy.
Chef John from Foodwishes.com has found a way to put a spin on this old favorite with his recipe for fried peanut butter and jelly pinchy pies.
To make the recipe, you need peanut butter and jelly (obviously) and white bread, along with some vegetable oil for frying. To create the pies, cut the white bread into rounds by using a cookie cutter or a knife.
Place peanut butter into the center of one side of a bread circle with about a half inch of space around the edge. Then, place a similar amount of jelly on the other bread circle. Place them together as if you were making a sandwich.
To seal the bread, pinch the edges of the white bread together. Due to the texture of white bread, the bread will seal together without much fuss. After their sealed, simply fry them in a vegetable oil until they are golden brown and crispy. There’s no goal temperature since there’s nothing that needs to be well-cooked.
At the end of the video, chef John scrapes a fork along the edges of his pies and takes a bite. The crunch is unbelievable. You have to try these.
