This Five Story Luxury Tree House Apartment Is Just As Awesome As it Sounds

A tree house might seem like silly child’s play to some people but, to Italian architect Luciano Pia, it’s a whole new way of living.

He designed the 25 Verde, a 63 unit apartment complex in Turin, Italy. It was designed to block out air and noise pollution while emanating a natural atmosphere.

The building is supported by steel columns, disguised as tree trunks, and stands 5-stories tall. The trees and foliage bloom and wilt seasonally, keeping temperatures steady during the harsher seasons, making for the ideal microclimate.

It was always planned to make the complex energy efficient. It harvests rain water for the plants and ventilation and uses geothermal energy for the heating and cooling.

The court yard alone holds 50 trees.

As it seems like nothing but beneficial to live in 25 Verde, we hope to see more designs like this in more places in the future.
