Congressman James Moran (Dem) has been implicated for his contributions to CAIR. This group is accused of providing assistance to Hamas through criminal fundraising operations.
Moran, representative to the Alexandria district in Northern Virginia, was outed by Linda Sarsour over a Twitter post thanking him for his recent contribution during a CAIR fundraiser.
She does not mention how much was donated by Moran, but the Islamic organization had awarded Moran a “Lifetime Achievement Award” during the fundraiser.
Critics mention that Moran has repeatedly stepped up and said that Jews have been responsible for many various wars in Arab countries.
The Justice Department named Awad, CAIR founder, as unindicted conspirators in a scheme to smuggle funds to Hamas, which is a jihadi affiliate of the Muslim Brotherhood.
According to a new July report, Awad was monitored by U.S. foreign intelligence agencies from 2002 to at least 2008 for his affiliations with Hamas. This report is also in response to allegations that five CAIR employees have been jailed or deported for terror-related offenses.
Previously, CAIR, has been visited by White House officials 100’s of times. Many other organizations and government agencies have also been involved in discussing issues with this organization. A 2009 letter from a top FBI official revealed that they have ceased formal meetings with Awad because of his ties to Hamas.
As for Moran, he will not be running for re-election this year.
