Blooming onions is a popular dish in restaurants. It’s like an onion ring, only, instead of one deep fried ring, you’re getting a whole deep fried onion in the shape of a flower, and who doesn’t love deep fried onions?
However, deep fried anything isn’t exactly the healthiest thing to consume. Fortunately for us health freaks, there’s a healthier alternative found in a magazine called “Food and Drink”.
Just take an onion and slice it down the middle without cutting all the way through. Do this until you have 8 wedges. Once your onions are prepared, put them in a bowl and drizzle them with 3 Tbsp. olive oil, 2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar.
Place them in a baking dish, pour a little more oil and vinegar, and sprinkle on some salt and pepper. All you need to do after that is cover it with aluminium foil and place in the oven at 425 degrees for 25-35 minutes.
It’s as simple as that! Once your onions are done, they should come out “blooming”. Add some caper or whatever you’d like to it and you’re ready to serve.
