Sacrificing something of yours for someone else, to ensure their safety or happiness is the strongest display of love, empathy and human dignity. One girl is a good example of all three.
Julia Jenkins has three younger brothers. Like most siblings, she and her brothers don’t always see eye to eye, but that didn’t stop her from coming to their aid when they needed her the most.
All three of her brothers were diagnosed with cancer. Julia watched as all of her brothers fell ill while she was in perfectly good health. That’s when she discovered she could help them in some way.
Her brothers needed bone marrow transplant and two of them, John and Mathew, were a perfect match for Julia’s marrow. She endure several tests and needles and hours in the hospital, but after all of that, in order to give her brothers the marrow they needed.
Her other brother, Will, got his bone marrow from a donor from Texas.
Thanks to her courage and sacrifice, her brothers are perfectly healthy 3 years after the operation.
