John Black, the owner of Crazy Lure Bait & Tackle in Florida, recently had the Kayak fishing trip of a lifetime when he hooked an enormous 550lb grouper on his fishing line.
The video included is the footage of Black catching the grouper on his line. As you can see b the recording, the fish is absolutely massive. And as you can hear by the excitement of the camera crew, everyone was pretty amped up about it.
What makes this feat even more impressive is that Kayak fishing is one of the most dangerous types of fishing you can do.
Kayaks are noted for their sleekness and maneuverability. These same benefits make them frail and easily topped, which means that if Black made one wrong move he could’ve ended up upside down. Combine that with the fact that the grouper had the combined weight of two NFL linebackers and you have a recipe for some dangerous sport.
The grouper’s official stats are 552 lbs, 83 inches long and 73 inches wide.
