Here’s What Happened When A 92-Year-Old WWII Pilot Got To Fly Her Fighter Plane 70 Yeas Later

We all know that encouraging idiom, “it’s just like riding a bike”. It’s mostly used when someone is picking up something they haven’t done in a long time and meant to assure people that it’ll be easy for them because their bodies will remember.

So what would it mean if one were to say, “it’s just like riding a jet”?

92-year-old WWII veteran Joy Lofthouse was once part of an all-women team, colloquially known as the “Atta girls”, who would deliver the fighter planes from the factories to the front-line, and maintenance units.

After 70 years of being grounded, Lofthouse once again had the opportunity to sore the skies in a familiar classic, the Spitfire. The ol’girl felt right at home.
