Does Ted Cruz’s Proposed Bill Give The U.S. Government Too Much Power?

It seems like everyday there’s a new threat and tension runs high whenever the word ‘terrorist’ is introduced, especially with the whole ISIS ordeal going on. So what is the government doing to make it’s people feel more safe? Well, there is the “Expatriate Terrorist Act”, a bill introduced by Senator Ted Cruz, which will give the government a humongous amount of new powers when it comes to national security.

It allows the U.S. to revoke citizenship to anyone who aids terrorist groups like ISIS. Anyone. If you were born on American soil or worked your way to gain citizenship and you’re helping any terrorist group then, well, you can say goodbye to the United States.

On the surface this sounds like a grand bill, but every light casts a shadow.

The problem here is, the Cruz bill allows the feds to strip anyone of their citizenship without due process for suspects. It means that, if you are slightly suspected, even with no viable evidence, the feds can rip you from your home and throw away your rights.

Under the constitution and law, even murderers and rapists have the right of trial.

Any American fighting with a terrorist organization is a shame to this great country and should be dealt with in the harshest manner, but does this bill give the federal government too much power? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
