102-Year-Old Dancer Sees Her Performance From The 1930s For The First Time

Alice Barker was a dancer during the Harlem Renaissance of the the 1930’s and 40’s. She would dance at famous clubs like The Apollo, Cotton Club, and Zanzibar Club, and would be right on stage with celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly and more.

Most of her performances were recorded. She had even danced in movies, commercials and TV shows. She has done so much dancing on the big screen yet has never had the opportunity to see herself dance.

Fortunately, those over at jazz-on-film.com uncovered some lost footage of her dances and was able to share them with her shortly after her 102nd birthday.

Looking back at her performance elicited an emotional response out of Baker and filled her with fond memories.
