Everyone knows that Doughnuts aren’t exactly a health food. But wouldn’t it be great if you could shave the calorie count of your favorite fried treat just little?
A youtuber by the name of the OnePotChef has the perfect recipe for all of you weight conscious donut lovers out there. He’s found an easy way to make baked donuts at home! It’s cheaper and quicker than going to Dunkin Donuts.
For one batch, you need 1 cup of plain flour, a 3 quarter teaspoon of baking powder, a 3 quarter teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, ½ cup of low-fat vanilla yoghurt, an egg, some fruit of your choice (he uses blueberries in this one), and a ⅓ cup of caster sugar.
To make them, all you need to do is combine the dry ingredients in one bowl and combine the wet ingredients in a separate bowl. Be sure to sift the dry ingredients so you don’t get any lumps.
Then mix them both together slowly, folding in your fruit after your mixture looks similar to cake batter. Then, just bake them in a donut shaped baking sheet at 375 degrees fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes.
And just like that you have a lighter alternative to one of America’s favorite stick to your ribs treats. It’s not exactly a health food, but you can feel way better about these!
