Church is a place of giving and forgiveness. A homeless person was attending a church when it came time to give offerings to the church. The person did not have much and was only able to give 18 cents and a note.
The note read: “Please don’t be mad I don’t have much, I’m homeless. God bless.”
Rev. Patrick S. Hamric and the others at the church were far from mad, they were sad and touched by the act. “We would like the dear soul who donated 18 cents to know that everyone on our team was moved by the spirit in which the gift was made,” said the Reverend.
If anyone is familiar with the bible then this story may remind them of the Widow. Many wealthy people were giving Jesus their offerings, money, jewels, and riches. An old widow showed up and dropped into the bowl only 2 coins of copper. To his disciples Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
You don’t have to be a religious person to understand the message given to us by the Widow and the Homeless person.
