Marlana VanHoose, an 18 year old Kentucky native with Cerebral Palsy, was tapped by newly announced Presidential campaigner Senator Rand Paul to sing the National Anthem at his presidential campaign announcement ceremony.
Marlana VanHoose’s diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy prevents her from seeing and gives her a limited range of movement, but her signing of the National Anthem despite her disability gave much joy to the audience and brought many audience members to tears.
Although Rand Paul’s campaign has brought much criticism and has political pundits of both parties divided, it’s one thing for certain that Marlana VanHoose’s presence as a powerful singer and a disenfranchised voice brought much to Paul’s #StandwithRand campaign announcement.
You can read more about Marlana VanHoose’s story and her musical ability at her official website, which details her relationship with God and Jesus Christ as well as her struggle with Cerebral Palsy.
