A Vietnam veteran received some help from a congressman after his flag was stolen from his front porch in Portland, Oregon.
After John Miller’s American flag was taken from his home, his son posted an ad on Craigslist hoping to have the flag returned to its proper owner. Greg Walden, from the State of Oregon’s second congressional district heard about the theft and set things right.
Personally calling John Miller at his home, the congressman offered to fly a new flag from the Washington capitol to Mr. Miller. Walden was extremely upset that this occurred and was happy to offer a new flag, stating:
“We need to send a strong message: You don’t mess with our veterans and you don’t mess with our flag.”
John Miller had placed the flag outside of his house every day and night for many years. Let’s hope that his new flag continues to wave for just as long.
