We’ve seen a lot of Do It Yourself mobile homes but this one is certainly the king of the crop. Mainly because it looks like it was built for a king.
Jola and Justin are a free-spirited couple who had returned to their homeland of New Zealand after travelling over seas. They had planned to live in this old truck, that’s when Justin had an idea.
He’s an engineer and an artist and when he showed his wife the designs for a compactable castle house she knew they had to build it. The two of them alone built their home and it has everything you need from necessities to luxuries.
In it’s compact state, the outside looks like an awkward shaped mobile home while the inside looks like a moving van. Once the fold everything out, the outer part looks like a castle and the inside is spacious and cozy.
They have a fully functional kitchen, complete with working stove, three ways to heat their water, a latrine, a shower, lounge room, and that’s only the first floor out of three.
One of the most impressive parts of this truck is the roof balcony. The roof is equipped with solar panels for that extra energy. Justin created a compartment for drying fruits and there’s even a hammock and a bath tub.
This mobile home definitely raises the bar for mobile homes.
