Parents in South Windsor, Connecticut are furious over a teacher’s decision to read his students an explicit poem to his class. The male English teacher who taught at South Windosr High School choose to have his advanced English class study the 1986 Allen Ginsberg poem called “Please Master.” The poem depicts a graphic homosexual encounter in vivid detail.
Due to the explicit nature of the poem, we have chosen not to print an excerpt here. You can, however, check it out online for free, if you wish to see the material in question.
Many parents were outraged by the teacher’s decision to have his class study the inappropriate poem. When interviewed by WTNH, one parent said:
“I don’t understand how that actually got into a high school class. I can understand parents being really upset about it.”
Another parent was so turned off by the passage that she couldn’t even get through it, she told reporters at WFSB:
“I couldn’t read the whole poem it was so inappropriate. The first few lines, but after I got into a few lines, I couldn’t believe what I was reading,”
The teacher has been placed on paid leave until the school is able to conclude their investigation.
